Marvel & DC are two big giants of the superhero industry. The vast area of working of both of these companies made it certain that every now and then, something bizarre or amazing came out of them. Most of them are related to their Cinematic Universes,MCU & DCEU. So today I'm going to tell you about 10 amazing behind the scenes from MCU & DCEU.
10.Ezra Miller's writing:
Ezra Miller was Casted by Warner Bros to play flash in DCEU, due to which he didn't have permission to change his physique & he also didn't get his solo movie as he was promised. It's in rumors only since his casting that DC is developing a flashpoint movie, but nothing was done on it. In an interview,Ezra Miller told that he also gave a self-written script for flash movie in 2018 & studios liked it. He said that they assured him they will do work on it, but nothing happened.
9.Two captain Marvels:
2019 brought two captain marvel movies. One was MCU'S Brie Larson stater captain marvel & another was DCEU'S shazam. Some of you may not know,then let me tell you that the initial name of shazam was captain marvel & he wasn't a character of DC comics,but of fawcett comics. When DC sued character for resemblance to Superman, fawcett comics got bankrupt by long lawsuit, then DC bought them & stopped the publication of their comics. Marvel launched a character with name of captain marvel titled comics,so when DC tried to relaunch character,they had to rename it to shazam to avoid any legal issues.
8. Tom hardy's decision:
When dark knight rises came out in 2012,fans were much anticipated for the film's villain & nolan casted Tom hardy for the role of bane. Hardy made role memorable on it's own account. People soon started guessing that he had done lot of practice for his role before shooting,but all of them got surprised when hardy told that he didn't even know what would be his character & he signed movie only to work with nolan. When asked about change he brought in his physique,he said he had built a strong body for his role in warrior & he only had to gain fat over that body. He also thanked nolan for paying his food bills for three weeks & said that he had to gain thirty kilos during this time.
7. Tom hiddleston as thor:
Tom hiddleston's Loki is the first memorable villain marvel has to offer. Even after so many years,the charm of hiddleston managed to put Loki in higher ranks of villains. So, it was a surprise for many fans when they were told that hiddleston initially gave audition for the role of thor,but as director wanted someone blond & with more masculine voice they opted to cast chris Hemsworth. The audition did manged to grab attention of directors & they gave the role of Loki to hiddleston,which made him an overnight star.
6. Evans' rejection:
The role of captain America is now so firmly attached to chris evans that we can't imagine anyone other than him in this role. But initially he also wasn't interested in his role, partially due to his previous attempts at superhero roles & partially due to his disinterest in franchise roles. He reportedly rejected the role two times & only accepted it after his mother forced him to do so as she was a big fan of captain America's comics & so she wanted her son to be in this role. She also cried when she saw the old captain America in endgame saying that Evan's looked same as his grandfather.
5. Annabelle in DCEU:
When the news came that James wan was going to direct aquaman,it was a big news for horror fans as james wan was responsible for much popular conjuring universe which have a lot of creepy & popular things. Most popular of them are Annabelle doll which is a horror icon in itself. Also Warner bros owned both universes, so it was a very strange connection between these vast universes. After the release of aquaman some fans said that they noticed Annabelle doll on some scenes director himself came after some time & confirmed that he willingly put doll in the movie. A lot of fans loved this Easter egg & so we got another glimpse of Annabelle in shazam further confirming that both conjuring universe & DCEU co-exist.
4.Award of GOG:
Guardians of the galaxy was one of the best movies of MCU. The highlight of this movie was it's music which comprised of various old English songs & no original song. The collection was very good & fitted with film in a very good manner. In fact it was the first movie to get an Grammy award without any original song & also first superhero movie to do so. James Gunn's choice of songs was also implied in vol.2, infinity war & in endgame too. This clearly showcased the impact movie's music had on audiences & critics alike. Gunn is reportedly trying to do same with his suicide squad reboot.
3.Whole script for groot:
Talking about guardians of the galaxy, how could one forget about everyone's favourite talking tree, groot. The character was brought to life by Vin diesel & inspite of saying only " I'm groot " the character became a household name after movie. The voice acting of Vin played a special role on it & was praised by everyone. He captured every emotion & even audiences could understand feelings of Groot in every dialogue. This thing was mostly due to both director & actor's hard work. Vin surely did a tremendous job but a fact most people don't know was that James Gunn himself wrote a whole script for the character of Groot with whole dialogue,just to ensure that Vin could capture every emotion in the role & it paid off.
2.Financial limitations for iron man:
Marvel had a very tough time during the filming of first iron man movie. They literally put everything they could in this movie. With only 160 million dollars in hands, marvel put 150 million dollars on iron man. Still they couldn't managed to get everything they wanted. From replacing Tom cruise with RDJ, hiring lowest paid director & using practical effects everything was to limit budget. The most bizzare thing they did was to remove dialogue writer & asking stars to made their dialogue by themselves yes a movie with no written dialogue. Yet John favreau & his team made most of it & we got a one of the best Cinematic experience on which MCU is built now.
1. Bizzare contract:
Both marvel & DC used to hire actors for multiple years & so they signed contract from them. These contracts had a lot of bizzare conditions in them. Conditions such as coming anytime called, remaining in required physique Everytime. These are very common but marvel also put a condition that their actors had to do charity in real life too. RDJ'S contact also said that he needs to be humorous in all of his public appearances, Evans' contract said he had to support military & mark ruffalo's contact said he had to support scientific research & development. Marvel's argument is that these things help audiences connect to their onscreen characters.
